The DOST-PCAMRD Zonal Center for Northern Mindanao based in MSU-Naawan will be holding an Industry Forum and Aquatic Technology Roadshow at MSU Naawan Campus on August 4-5, 2011. The activity aims to promote the marketing, adoption and/or commercialization of technologies on aquatic and marine resources. Technologies that are science-based and are ready for adoption, consisting of products, services and processes are showcased for presentation, discussion and evaluation. While the primary intention is to disseminate such aquatic technologies for adoption and commercialization, we are also making this a competition open to all Filipino citizens, whether they are from Zonal member-institutions, the academe, private sector, LGU, PO, NGO or private individuals. Entries will be judged based on economic viability, social benefits/acceptability, environmental impacts, creativity/innovativeness and level/number of adoptors of the aquatic technology, if any. Competing entries must have a poster, techno presentation and product display. Non-competing entries must have a poster and product display. Top three best technologies will be selected from among the entries and awarded a cash prize of Php 5,000.00, Php 3,000.00 and Php 2,000.00 for first, second and third place, respectively, plus certificate. Non-winners and non-competing entries will also receive a certificate.
We are calling for your participation in this activity. If you have an aquatic technology in your agency, we are encouraging you to grab this opportunity to disseminate such to a wider community. We are inviting representatives from the private sector who may be interested to commercialize your technology, especially if it is a product. But even if your agency has no entry, we encourage you to participate. It would be very beneficial if you also send your Municipal Agriculture Officer, your Fishery Officer, your Livelihood Officer or their equivalent. Many of the technologies are worth adopting for livelihood activities that would hopefully help alleviate poverty in our country. We are hoping that this Forum and Roadshow will benefit your constituents through your representatives. There is no registration fee to this activity. However, you are expected to take care of your travel and transportation expenses.
