First Sea Cucumber R&D Center Museum in the Philippines located at MSU Naawan opens to public

Two turn-over ceremonies of 2 projects: 1) Ponds A&B for NICER Center for Sea Cucumber Research and Development at MSU Naawan, and 2) Sea Cucumber Research and Development Center Museum happened on December 5, 2022 at Mindanao State University at Naawan. The said museum is the first in the Philippines and both projects are headed by Dr. Wilfredo H. Uy.
The pond and museum for Sea Cucumber R&D Center of the Mindanao State University at Naawan were made possible through the Accelerated R&D Program for Capacity Building of Research and Development Institutions and Industrial Competitiveness: Niche Centers in the Regions for R&D (NICER) Program of the DOST-Science 4 Change Program, monitored by the DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD).
The ceremony started with a ribbon cutting and blessing, followed by the unveiling of wall plaque, ceremonial release of bangus fingerlings in the pond, ceremonial release of sand fish juveniles in the floating hapa nets, and a tour of the museum exhibits.
Present during the ceremony are Mr. Virgilio Fuertes, DOST Region X Supervising SRS; Dr. Emmanuel P. LeaƱo, NOMMCARD Consortium Director; Mr. Jack Casibual of CASICART (Pond Contractor); Ms. Verna L. Apas of BRIMA (Museum Contractor); Ms. Gergie A. Ambato, VCAA; Ms. Arleen B. Uy, VCPD; Prof. Renoir A. Abrea, VCRE; Ms. Rhoda P. Abary, VCAF; Chancellor Dr. Elnor C.
